How to Host and Run an ICN Event

The Insights Career Network thrives because of people like you—the connectors and community-builders who recognize that career transitions shouldn’t be a solo journey. That means we have GOT to see each other more often. No, really.

By hosting a local event, you are providing the “social glue” our insights community needs right now. You understand that while we’ve grown comfortable behind our screens, the real healing power of community happens when we show up for one another in person. We’re collectively in a massive career transition, whether employed or not. Let’s get together in accessible, safe environments and evolve together.

The ICN encourages grassroots organizations of all insights types and in all communities to organize under our banner. As an ICN event organizer, please understand you are a steward of our brand and our values. To help you represent this community well, we’ve established a few ground rules:

Tips for hosting a successful ICN-supported event

  1. Timing: Please let us know about your interest in hosting an event at least 3 weeks in advance if you want members to be notified by email and in our events. Most ICN events and emails happen on a twice-monthly schedule. For anything with a shorter time frame, you will have our LinkedIn support.
  2. IRL Event Registration: We do ask that all attendees register in advance or sign in at the event, and that list must be shared with the Insights Career Network team. We need to know who is in the room to serve and protect them at the event and afterwards. The registration form can be set up by local volunteers, but the ICN must approve and have access to registered attendees.
  3. Location: Pick a location with room for at least 20 people that will not charge a deposit. Attendance can fluctuate for free events.
  4. Promo Image: ICN’s marketing team will provide you with a Canva design theme to create your event’s promotional imagery.
  5. Low or No Cost: IRL meetups must be pay-as-you-go or free. If any proceeds are raised, they go to the ICN or to an approved, local non-profit.
  6. Count Attendance: After the event, report back to ICN how many showed. Free and pay-as-you-go events enjoy a <50% show rate.  TIP: The best way to get people to show is for the local event organizer to communicate with attendees directly.
  7. Membership: ICN membership is optional – but please encourage attendees to join. It’s free and easy to sign up at our website.
  8. Designated Host: We need a designated Host or two like you! Contact us at Events@InsightsCareerNetwork.org to take point on an ICN event in your neighborhood.
