The insights profession is evolving faster than our talent systems can keep up, and many organizations and individuals are feeling the strain. This year, the Insights Career Network is launching a multi‑phase research initiative to understand what we and others are observing: a widening gap between the skills insights professionals possess and the skills leaders urgently need. Adding to the challenge is how those skills are (or aren’t) reflected, assessed, and prioritized in the hiring process. In short, why is it so hard to find the people we need when we have so many talented people available?

This session will share early intelligence from a series of conversations with industry organizations, hiring leaders, and insights executives. These discussions surface real‑world challenges, reveal what leaders most want answered in the research, and help shape the direction of ICN’s 2026 Hiring & Skills Study.

But this session isn’t just about what we’ve learned — it’s about what you are experiencing. What questions are keeping you up at night? How should teams evolve? What skills matter most now? What’s the right balance between AI and human capability? What does “the right team composition” look like in 2026 and beyond? Join us to hear early signals from our inquiry and contribute your perspective as we shape where this research goes next.

Thanks to a great relationship with Informa, the organizers of The Market Research Event (TMRE), a crew of Insights Career Network volunteers will be operating our Mobile Insights Career Center at TMRE 2026. And we have room for one more Insights Ally at the table!
