🛠️ May 14 @ 10 AM – The Insights Impact Lab
Mastering Pro Bono Research to Build Your Portfolio
Whether going to Learner’s Research Week online, in-person, or not at all, join the Insights Career Network for this effective skill-building workshop gathering in the heart of San Francisco’s Financial District at the research facilities of KNow Research.
The Challenge: The “experience gap” is the biggest hurdle for insights professionals in transition. You have the skills, but without a current business “home,” your portfolio can feel stagnant – to you and to your prospective partners and employers. Meanwhile, many nonprofit organizations that work to build a better world struggle to make the most of their opportunities, thanks to a lack of either funding or time, but usually both. Nonprofits often have the need for more insights, but lack the budget for the high-level research can provide. Nonprofits have access to the utilities, data, and audiences that make for the most compelling research; they just need a little assistance to unlock their stories.
The Solution: This two-hour intensive workshop teaches you how to identify, pitch, and execute high-value pro bono research projects that don’t just “do good”—they look incredible on a resume/portfolio.
- When: Thursday, May 14, 2026 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Where: KNow Research, 230 California Street, Suite 602, San Francisco, CA 94111
- Cost: Recommended donation of $25–$50
- Capacity: Strictly limited to 21 attendees

What You’ll Learn:
- The Impact Audit: Align your skills with nonprofit challenges like donor retention and brand awareness.
- The Pro Bono Pitch: A framework for approaching Executive Directors professionally.
- Platform Testing: How to gain access to research tools and trial accounts for your projects.
- Resume Translation: How to frame pro bono work as “consulting” to attract recruiters.
